Iwan Maktabi Design Lab is dedicated to innovation and craftsmanship. With a strong foundation in the craft of hand knotted carpets, Iwan Maktabi recognized the need to elevate the art of carpet-making by merging modern techniques and design approaches with traditional practices.
Spearheaded by Iwan Maktabi’s artistic director, Mohamed Maktabi, the Lab is a research and development space where designers, creatives or artists meet experienced craftsmen to collaborate and push the boundaries of carpet making. The LAB is the platform that enables regional and international artists to transform their visions into tangible, collectible woven carpets.
